Rainbows of hope are everywhere at the moment, and every time I see one it puts a smile on my face.


They symbolism hope for the future, and a brighter time ahead. These hard times will not last forever do not forget that!


These beautiful rainbows are easy to make and spread love and joy to all who see them.


-MATERIALS -

· 3.5mm crochet hook

· DK yarn in various colours

· Darning needle and scissors


-ABBREVIATIONS-

· Magic Loop (I chain two and crochet into first loop to create ring)

· CH – Chain

· ST – Stitch

· SL ST – Slip stitch

· SK ST – Skip stitch

· SC – Single crochet

· HDC – Half double crochet

· DC – Double crochet

· SC2TOG – Single crochet two together

· JOIN and FO – SL ST into next ST, chain one, cut yarn

· FO- Fasten off

· T – Turn


-PATTERN NOTES-

· Pattern written using American terminology.

Rainbow – begin with 1st colour.

Crochet / weave ends in as you go, to prevent having to weave them in at the end.

1. CH2, 4SC into 2nd CH from hook, CH1, T {4}

2. 2SC into each ST, CH1, T (8)

Change colour.

3. (SC1, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC2, CH1, T {11}

4. (SC2, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC1, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {15}

Change colour.

5. (SC3, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC2, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {19}

6. (SC4, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC3, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {23}

Change colour.

7. (SC5, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC4, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {27}

8. (SC6, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC5, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {31}

Change colour.

9. (SC7, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC6, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {35}

10. (SC8, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC7, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {39}

Change colour.

11. (SC9, 2SC into next ST) 3 times, SC8, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {43}

12. SC21, (SC1, CH14, SC1 all into the same ST), SC1

Join and FO.


Tassels - make 2 for each end of every Rainbow colour.

Instruction is for 1 tassel:

Cut 5 pieces of 8” yarn.

Fold strands in half and hook stitch them through the end of a colour section.

Hook stitch – Insert your hook into stitch, pull the middle of 5 strands through about 2cm, pass the tails of the yarn through the loop you have created and pull tight.
