No Sew Octopus

It was only a matter of time before I jumped on the Octopus bandwagon, but in my defence it was hard not to! they are to cute! These Octoplush (see what I did there) only take 20 minutes to make, and the best part is - there's no sewing involved.

-MATERIALS-
· Chunky yarn in various colours
· 6mm crochet hook
· Embroidery needle and scissors
· 2 x 10mm safety eyes
· Toy Stuffing
-ABBREVIATIONS-
· Magic Loop (I chain two and crochet into first loop to create ring)
· CH – Chain
· ST – Stitch
· SL ST – Slip stitch
· SK ST – Skip stitch
· SC – Single crochet
· HDC – Half double crochet
· DC – Double crochet
· SC2TOG – Single crochet two together
· JOIN and FO – SL ST into next ST, chain one, cut yarn
· FO- Fasten off
· FLO – Front loops only
· BLO – Back loops only
· T – Turn

-CONSTRUCTION NOTES-
- Numbers written inside {} state the number of stitches at the end of round.
- All instructions inside ** are to be made into same space.
- All instructions inside () are to be repeated number of times stated afterwards.
- Pattern is written using US Crochet terminology.
-PATTERN NOTES-
· Place safety eyes between rows 6 and 7, 5 stitches apart.
-METHOD-
Octopus – make with any colour yarn.
CH2, 8SC into the 2nd CH from hook {8}
2SC into every ST around {16}
(SC1, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {24}
4-8. SC around {24} - 5 rounds.
9. (SC1, SC2TOG) 8 times {16}
10. IN BLO (SC2TOG) 8 times {8}
Stuff Octopus.
Join and FO leaving a long tail.
Use tail to sew hole closed.
With contrasting coloured yarn sew dashes beneath each eye.
Legs:
Re-Join yarn with a SL ST in any of the front loop stitches left from round 10.
(CH6, from the 2nd CH from hook do 3SC in each of the next 5 chains, SL ST into the next front loop stitch, SL ST along again into the next front loop.) repeat to make all 8 legs.
Join and FO.
