Leo The Lion Crochet Pillow Pattern


If you have some chunky yarn and you dont know what to do with it, then this lion pillow is the pattern for you.


The pillow is super easy to make and can be worked up in a short time. The most time consuming thing on this pattern is adding all the fuzz around the edges.


-MATERIALS -

· Super chunky yarn in brown, orange and yellow

· 10mm crochet hooks

· Super chunky embroidery needle and scissors

· Toy stuffing


-ABBREVIATIONS-

· Magic Loop (I chain two and crochet into first loop to create ring)

· CH – Chain

· ST – Stitch

· SL ST – Slip stitch

· SK ST – Skip stitch

· SC – Single crochet

· HDC – Half double crochet

· DC – Double crochet

· SC2TOG – Single crochet two together

· SP ST – Spike stitch

· JOIN and FO – SL ST into next ST, chain one, cut yarn

· FO- Fasten off

· T – Turn

· The finished pillow measures 26" in diameter.


Head – make 2 with main coloured yarn.

1. CH2, 8SC into the 2nd CH from hook {8}

2. 2SC into every ST around {16}

3. (SC1, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {24}

4. (SC2, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {32}

5. (SC3, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {40}

6. (SC4, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {48}

7. (SC5, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {56}

8. (SC6, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {64}

9. (SC7, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {72}

10. (SC8, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {80}

11. (SC9, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {88}

12. (SC10, 2SC into the next ST) 8 times {96}

Join and FO.

SC the two pieces of the head together by going through consecutive stitches on the outside row. Make sure to stuff the head before you close the gap together completely.


Lion’s Mane – make with brown and orange yarn.

Cut 120 x 6” strands of brown and orange yarn.

Into each of the outside stitches hook stitch both an orange and brown piece of yarn into each stitch.

Hook stitch – Insert your hook into stitch, pull the middle of a piece of yarn through about 2cm, pass the tails of the yarn through the loop you have created and pull tight.


Nose – make with orange yarn.

1. CH2, 3SC into the 2nd CH from hook, CH1, T {3}

2. 2SC into the 1st ST, SC1, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {5}

3. 2SC into the 1st ST, SC3, 2SC into the last ST, CH1, T {7}

4. SC across, CH1, T {7}

5. SC around the entire nose.

Join and FO.

Pin and sew into place on head.

With yellow yarn sew on face detail (eyes, nose, mouth, and whiskers)
