Carnation Flower

These carnation flowers are perfect for a scrap yarn project. They are super fast to make and are the perfect little gifts.


-MATERIALS-

·      DK yarn in green and colour of flower

·        4mm crochet hook

·        Florist wire and glue


-ABBREVIATIONS-

·        CH – Chain

·        ST – Stitch

·        SL ST – Slip stitch

·        SC – Single crochet

·        DC – Double crochet

·        JOIN and FO – SL ST into next ST, chain one, cut yarn

·        FO- Fasten off


-CONSTRUCTION NOTES- 

-        Pattern written inside ** should all be made into the same stitch.

-        Pattern written inside () should be repeated the number of times stated.

-        Pattern is written using US Crochet terminology.

-        CH3 counts as DC


Carnation - Make with colour of choice.

  1. CH5, SLST into the first chain to form a ring, CH3, DC15 into ring, SLST into to the top of CH3 {16}

  2. CH3, DC into the same space as CH3, 2DC in to every ST around, SLST into to the top of CH3 {32}

  3. CH3, DC into the same space as CH3, 2DC in to every ST around, SLST into to the top of CH3 {64}

  4. CH3, DC into the same space as CH3, 2DC in to every ST around, SLST into to the top of CH3 {128}

  5. (CH3, SC into next ST) repeat around, SL ST into first ST

    Join and FO leaving a long tail.

    Thread tail down to round 2 of flower and weave the tail in and out of each stitch from that round. Pull tail tight to form the flower.

    Weave tail and secure.


Sepal - Make with green yarn.

Do not join at the end of each round.

  1. CH2, into the 1st CH make 7SC {7}

  2. 2SC into every ST around {14}

  3. SC arounds {14}

  4. SC arounds {14}

  5. SC arounds {14}

  6. SC arounds {14}

  7. SC arounds {14}

  8. (CH3, SC into next ST) repeat around, SL ST into first ST

    Join and FO leaving a long tail.

    Position sepal to cup under the flower and use yarn tail to sew into place.

    With florist wire glue into the base of flower.
